Diversity Officer - Arts Council, freelance artist
What makes a good leader?
A good leader may be, at times, a reluctant leader. As an Arts Council employee and freelance artist, I have experience of being led and leading. Depending on the context, both, can be exciting, inspirational or painful. Good leadership is about understanding these contexts, and facilitating solutions to the problems and situations which arise from them.
Is leadership different for disabled people?
It is often unexpected, and therefore requires greater energies in proving yourself and convincing others, of your role. A greater determination and fortitude is required in crashing through glass ceilings.
Do disabled people experience barriers to leadership that non disabled people don't experience?
Prejudice, (mis)perceptions, access barriers, lack of self-confidence.
