Limelight is Scotland’s first professional music production company run by people with impairments. We are the UK’s leading producer of high quality Inclusive music and specialise in raising the profile of disabled artists in the mainstream music industry.

We are Scotland’s first generation of professional disabled musicians and have a fully accessible recording studio from which we create, produce and promote our artistic work.

This work takes the form of:

  1. Music recording and production

  2. Live performances and showcase events

  3. Music Theatre Productions

  4. Training and mentorship.

  5. Education and Outreach

1.Music Recording and Production

Currently there are thirty-two professional artists with impairments who work with Limelight. These artists form three bands: The Superheroes, 21st Century Band and Blind Gurl and the Crips. Each band has written an album of songs which has been recorded in our new studio and will be distributed through Redberry Records.
Additionally, we collaborate with mainstream musicians and music producers to compose and record music for film, television and theatre.

2.Live performances and Showcase Events

We currently hold a monthly Cabaret event called Club Sublime to showcase the work of Scotland’s first generation of professional disabled artists at Glasgow’s Tron theatre Victorian Bar. The event is hosted by Blind Gurl and the Crips and features Limelight musicians, local artists and well known musicians from the mainstream industry.

3.Music theatre Productions

We collaborate with mainstream theatre companies such as the Tron and Citizens Theatre to produce cutting edge, inclusive Music Theatre. We have toured the UK and abroad to great acclaim with such productions as Liar (by award-winning writer-director Davey Anderson), Heid (by Forbs Masson) and Raspberry (by award-winning actor/writer/director Garry Robson).

4.Training and Mentorship

Limelight Satellite is a programme to train and mentor the next generation of people with impairments in music, music facilitation, recording and stagecraft. We have pioneered a variety of exciting and innovative projects to train and mentor a diverse blend of individuals and groups.
